Comments and Responses following a live performance of
Mahler: Symphony No. 1
Symphony Orchestra of India
Zane Dalal – Associate Music Director and Conductor
22 September, 2016
...Just wanted to thank you, again, for bringing alive Hansel & Gretel as well as Mahler's I. WOW! The evening was.. I find it hard to express it, except I left JBT singing(..in the rain!) and could not sleep for ages! Electrifying...that's what I felt in the last movement. I never want to hear this on a CD again. Your talk last week helped recognise and understand the nuances of emotion in the pieces. As you can see I am your fan... Thanks again to you and the SOI- they sure have come a long long way. I am looking forward to 30th now. See you,
...Just dropping in to say how much we appreciated the concert yesterday. One could hear, see and feel the tremendous effort, care and attention to detail that went into giving an awesome performance. Except for the mandatory variations of the coughing symphony, the attentive silence of the audience allowed one to enjoy the smallest and most gentle sounds. It was a great experience. Regards as always,
...Thoroughly enjoyed yesterday’s concert. Standing ovation and comments from crowd very good. I sit in ‘Q’ row and hear everyone’s chit chat.
...We loved the whole programme yesterday …fantastically done…WOW. Wanted to meet you after the programme but they wouldn’t let us in…it’s cool.
Congrats, Zane….Superb concert.
...Congratulations again on an inspired performance. You did miracles with this mammoth task of getting such a marathon work up to that high level of playing. I'm also proud of our orchestra. People don't even realise how far we have managed to go through our 10 year journey. Playing Planets, Wagner, Mahler and with such a quality.
Well done, …very fine. My very best wishes,
